Most Kal-Pine solid log structures are custom designed and built to specifications provided by our clients. Our design staff can take your ideas and sketches and will work with you to create a floor plan that meets all your expectations. We will then help you choose from our extensive product line, the materials and components that meet your needs and price. These products are then coordinated into a cohesive materials package for accurate pricing.

Every structure produced at our facilities is first drawn and modeled in 3D, using cutting-edge CAD design (Computer Aided Drafting). Our designers are well versed in all aspects of building design, and every structure is designed to meet or exceed Canadian Building Code requirements. Whether you want a custom ‘one–off’ home or would prefer to pick from our growing supply of standard plans, we design, supply and build the home of your dreams.

Our design service fee is CDN $3.50 per sq. ft and $1.50 per sq. ft. of that cost will be credited back when you proceed with the building. Included in this fee is:

• An initial personal meeting with our designer (if applicable),
• A complete set of construction plans including elevations,
• Floor plans,
• A materials list including interior framing; and
• An itemized log list used to manufacture the structure.

Once the design is complete and we have proceeded to an OFA (Out For Approvals) set of plans, they will be reviewed by one of our associate engineering companies. (At this point we will accept your engineering fees if applicable).

Once the plans are approved and stamped by the engineer, you will receive a detailed quote and time line for production of the home. Once you have accepted the quote, we can then proceed with the manufacturing deposit of 50%, and commence manufacturing the structure.
